Preorder some configurations of the M4 iPad Pro and the recently launched tablet won’t be delivered until late May or even early June. If you held off ordering until you could read a review of the device, you could be facing a bit of a wait.

That said, there are still ways to get one on launch day, May 15.

M4 iPad Pro versions are backordered

The 13-inch version of the M4 iPad Pro is advertised as “the thinnest Apple product ever.” It’s also available in an 11-inch version, and both sizes have an OLED screen rather than a traditional LCD. And the Apple M4 processor makes its debut in the new tablet. Storage capacity now starts at 256GB.

Before Tuesday, there hadn’t been a new iPad Pro since 2022, and clearly demand piled up.

Place an order for the base model 11-inch version from the U.S. Apple store online on Friday and the delivery won’t be until between June 5 and June 12 — three weeks after launch day. That’s true for both silver and space black color options.

Preorder the base model 13-inch version in silver from the U.S. Apple store online on Friday and the delivery window is May 22 to May 24. For the space black option, the delivery won’t be until between May 29 and June 5.

There are options for quicker delivery

Fortunately, those eager to get their hands on the M4 iPad Pro have options besides waiting additional weeks.

A check by Cult of Mac found the backordered variants still available for pickup at Apple stores on launch day, May 15. It’s a good option for anyone who lives near one of these retail locations.

Alternatively, upgrading the configuration speeds up delivery. Order a model with 512GB of storage and it’ll arrive on your doorstep on May 15. Of course, that adds $200 to the price.

Get out your wallet

The 11-inch M4 iPad Pro starts at $999, while the 13-inch model starts at $1,299. Those are price increases over the previous versions, but these aren’t as high as some had predicted for OLED tablets.

A redesigned Magic Keyboard and new Apple Pencil Pro are also available for preorder, and will start reaching customers May 15.
