Video streamers with a lot to say know that working without a script can be challenging, and most teleprompters TV hosts use to read while maintaining eye contact are pricey. But the new Elgato Prompter brings the technology to the masses for $280, the company said Tuesday.
So you can look like a pro on your YouTube video or Zoom call. And Promter’s screen serves as an extra monitor for Mac or PC, too.
Elgato Prompter
The new Elgato Prompter is a complete solution for anyone in need of an affordable teleprompter that’s not as limited as most cheap options.
Other inexpensive models out there tend to require you to slot in your tablet or phone to display text, but Prompter, with a 9-inch monitor, connects via USB-C to a computer and works with most cameras or webcams with no need of additional power.
Elgato Camera Hub software
Elgato Camera Hub software allows the device to display auto-scrolling full-screen text or a feed from another source, like a Twitch chat.
A plug-in for Elgato’s Stream Deck adds control over Prompter, letting you play and pause text and modify elements like brightness and font size easily. It also works with Elgato’s Facecam webcam, of course.
As an extra monitor, the screen “automatically mirrors any app, file or browser you onto its screen,” Elago said.
For additional cost, you can bundle Prompter with different mounts. You can preorder now for December shipping, the company said.
