Battery for Miles, a just-released advert for Apple, stars an elderly farmer driving a tractor and listening to Ludacris on his iPhone … as one does. He’s many hours from his destination but he doesn’t care — his iPhone 14 Plus has all the battery life he needs.

Apple also premiered Crash Test to advertise the iPhone’s Crash Detection feature.

Humor works in advertising. Studies show that ads that make viewers laugh cause them to have a more positive view of the advertiser. Apple clearly believes this, because nearly all its video adverts are funny.

The latest example, Battery for Miles, sets up a ridiculous tableau: an elderly man using his tractor to slowly transport a massive pumpkin down a straight, flat road while listening to “Two Miles an Hour” from Ludacris on his iPhone 14 Plus. Of course, he has Apple Maps going even though his next turn isn’t for 102 miles and it’ll take him about seven hours to get to it.

Ads sometimes stretch the truth, but the farmer’s iPhone 14 Plus is quite capable of streaming music that entire time on a single charge. The handset is good for about 12 hours before it needs to be plugged in.

Crash Test highlights iPhone 14’s Crash Detection

Crash Detection enables the iPhone 14 series to be able to tell if its user is in a severe car accident and automatically call for help. Apple’s new Crash Test video ad has a bit of fun with the potentially lifesaving feature.

A crash test dummy goes through a massive accident that’s all part of its daily routine, but its iPhone 14 Pro offers to call for emergency help anyway.
