No, you didn’t deactivate the wake-up alarm in your sleep this morning. Apple is aware of a problem that sometimes causes the iPhone’s Clock app to fail to set off alarms.
A fix is on the way.
Apple working on a fix for iPhone wake-up alarm failing
An iPhone generally makes a brilliant alarm clock. The built-in Clock app makes it easy to set separate wake-up alarms for weekdays, weekends and special occasions, and a snooze button is built in. Plus, the handset sits conveniently right next to you in bed after you fell asleep at 2 a.m. scrolling through TikTok.
But reports of an alarming bug are spreading on social media. The iPhone’s Clock app is failing. And no wake-up alarm means people are oversleeping for work, school, etc. It’s apparently been happening for several days.
The iPhone alarm bug is getting enough attention that the Today Show ran a segment about it Tuesday:
If your alarm hasn't gone off recently, you’re not alone ⏰

But there’s some good news. “Apple says it is aware of an issue causing some iPhone alarms to not play the expected sound and says it is working on a fix,” Today reports.
To be clear, the iPhone alarm bug affects the iOS Clock application. It does not affect alarms coming from the Calendar app.
Possible temporary fix: Turn off the Attention Aware feature
The bug apparently is related to the iPhone’s Attention Aware feature. This detects if the user is looking at the iPhone to lower the volume of alerts. It seems to be going too far and silencing them.
Those experiencing a problem with iPhone wake-up alarms failing to go off should go to Settings -> Face ID & Passcode then enter their passcode so they can toggle off Attention Aware Features.
This marks the second time this week that an iPhone bug made headlines. Many users experienced problems with Apple ID, too.
