Apple TV users can install the tvOS 15.1.1 update for the media streamer. It was introduced for all to download on Monday.
Virtually nothing is known about it now, however. But it’s almost certainly a simple “bug fix.”
Still mostly a mystery
This release comes exactly seven days after the debut of tvOS 15.1, which introduced SharePlay. And given its “.1” version number, it’s probably just bug fixes for last week’s update. That said, these are important enough for Apple to quickly rush out a fix.
But Apple so far hasn’t given us any release notes. This article will be updated when/if that changes.
No other Apple operating system updates were released on Monday. So far, anyway. So whatever bug(s) cropped up in tvOS apparently don’t also trouble iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1.
How to update to tvOS 15.1.1
The new version is for Apple TV HD and later models: Apple TV 4K 1st Generation and 2nd Generation.
A manual update isn’t necessary for most Apple TVs. The default is for these to be automatically downloaded and applied.
But those eager to get this update immediately can do so by navigating to the Settings app on your Apple TV. Then click through to System, then click on Software Updates, then click on Update Software.
