Apple shined a light on LGBTQ+ communities Monday with its new Pride Collection. It includes a new Apple Watch Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop plus a matching watch face and dynamic iOS and iPadOS wallpapers. In a first, you can customize the watch face and wallpapers by choosing colors.
You can order the new Apple Watch band starting May 22. The watch face and dynamic wallpapers for iOS and iPadOS arrive with an upcoming software update, Apple said.
Pride Collection 2024: Apple Watch Braided Solo Loop, watch face and iOS and iPadOS wallpapers
Cupertino said its new Apple Pride Collection brings an Apple Watch Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop, matching watch face, and dynamic iOS and iPadOS wallpapers “as a way to champion global movements to protect and advance equality for LGBTQ+ communities.”
Here’s some further description of Apple’s suppport:
Through this Pride Collection, Apple is proud to continue its support of LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations whose efforts are bringing about positive change, including ILGA World, a global federation committed to advancing the rights of LGBTQ+ people worldwide; and the Human Rights Campaign, a global advocacy group working to ensure all LGBTQ+ people are treated as full and equal citizens. Additional advocacy organizations Apple supports include Encircle, Equality North Carolina, Equality Texas, GLSEN, Equality Federation, the National Center for Transgender Equality, PFLAG, SMYAL, and The Trevor Project.
Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop
Apple said multiple Pride flags inspire the new Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop’s vibrant, fluorescent design. It features a laser-etched lug that reads “Pride 2024.”
The pink, light blue and white colors represent transgender and nonbinary individuals. The black and brown hues symbolize Black, Hispanic and Latin communities, plus those impacted by HIV/AIDS, Apple said.
You can personalize the Pride Radiance Apple Watch face with a spectrum of colors. The same is true of the iOS and iPadOS wallpapers. Generally, the colors represent hope, strength and fellowship in the LGBTQ+ communities.
Customizable colors in Apple Watch face and wallpapers
The new Pride Radiance watch face and iOS and iPadOS wallpapers bring bold colors to Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad.
“Beams of light glow against a dark background, and stack on top of each other to represent the everlasting impact of LGBTQ+ activism and its role in illuminating the path to greater equality for future generations,” Apple said.
Here’s how you can personalize the watch face and wallpapers:
Users can choose from a spectrum of colors to personalize their watch face and wallpapers. On Apple Watch, the colors trace each numeral of the watch face and react in real time as the user moves their wrist based on input from the gyroscope. On iPhone and iPad, beams of color spell out “Pride” and dynamically move when the user unlocks their device.
