The Opera browser for iOS now features an artificially intelligent assistant created in collaboration with OpenAI. Opera calls it Aria, and says it “offers you a cutting-edge generative AI service for free.”
Similarly to other such tools, Opera integrated its AI into the browser and makes it free to use once you opt in.
Opera browser for iOS adds Aria AI
Opera, like some other browsers, already put its AI product on its desktop and Android browser versions, with more than 1 million users in play.
“Aria amplifies your creativity and productivity by leveraging the potential of AI,” the company said Thursday in a blog post. “As an expert in both web navigation and browser functions, Aria facilitates AI collaboration in tasks such as information retrieval, text or code generation, and product inquiries.
Opera said it enhances the product using its Composer architecture, which helps enable real-time web search results.
With the addition of the iOS version, AI is on all of Opera’s platforms — Mac, Windows, Linux, Android and now iOS — the company said.
Joins a growing field
In order to use Aria, you have to log into your user account. If you don’t have one, it’s quick to create one in the iOS app.
Alternatively, of course, you could download the ChatGPT app from OpenAI and use that on your iPhone. Apple itself may have its own AI chatbot product soon, too.
Type or talk to use Opera’s Aria
Aria works by connecting to OpenAI’s GPT technology. In its chatbot interface, you can ask questions and get answers. You find Aria in the browser’s More menu. Alternatively, you can tap the microphone button to ask questions with your voice rather than typing.
Free to download and use, Opera for iOS also features a free VPN and other tracking prevention, ad blocking, private browsing and a crypto wallet.
