The slim new Voyager mechanical keyboard that ZSA launched Wednesday, radically split into two low-profile pieces, looks mighty futuristic.
Emphasizing ergonomic typing and loads of customization options, it’s especially useful for laptop users, the company said.

Joking references to the future aside, ZSA has been making split keyboards since 2015, including a chunkier one called the Moonlander Mark I. The new Voyager is about going places, however, aka portability.
“Designed with a laptop in mind,” ZSA said, the wired and svelte Voyager split keyboard makes typing on one easier and it can go almost anywhere with your laptop because it doesn’t take up much space.
No doubt typing on such a split keyboard would take some getting used to, but it could be worth it for the health factor of reduced repetitive strain.
Voyage is a compact keyboard with just 52 keys, which ZSA said is to minimize reach and enhance comfort. The precise “columnar” layout of the keys also serves those functions.
Choice of keycaps and switches

The cool keeb comes with a choice of keycaps and a choice of three types of low-profile switches. The keeb is hot-swappable, meaning you can swap in different switches at will, without the need of a soldering iron.

LED lighting, plenty of extras in the box
The keyboard features LED lighting under all keys, and of course you can customize that, too, setting it to highlight certain keys or “dance” in animations, ZSA said.
You can order the Voyager for $365 in Cosmic Nomad Black or Polar Explorer White with a choice of keycaps and tactile, clicky or linear Kailh switches.
It comes with extra keycaps, a nifty carrying case, three USB-C cables in different lengths, a USB-C to USB-A dongle and a TRRS headphone cable.
