Satechi USB-C Hybrid Multiport Adapter offers storage and ports
“The hybrid adapter gives users the convenience of only having to take one, sleek adapter with them to meet all connection needs, while also providing the ability to store data and easily access it, too,” says Satechi.
Open the accessory to expose the storage compartment for M.2 SATA SSDs. Sold separately, these are available with terabytes of capacity.
In addition, the USB-C Hybrid Multiport Adapter extends the capabilities of the computer in other ways. It includes a 4K/60Hz HDMI display port. And two USB-A 3.0 data ports for connecting peripherals. Plus there’s 100W USB-C PD pass-through charging, though requires 15W of its own.
All this requires a single USB-C port. Which means it can be used with a MacBook, desktop Mac or iPad models with this port.
The Satechi USB-C Hybrid Multiport Adapter debuted Friday in Space Gray and Black for $89.99. It’s available from Satechi.net and Amazon.com. To be completely clear, the M.2 SATA SSD must be purchased separately.
A near alternative is the Minix Neo Storage, a hub that offers several ports and 240GB of storage for $79.90.
