Adobe shared a sneak peek of the new Vectorize feature coming to Illustrator on the iPad. It will let users turn any hand drawn sketch into a vector graphic.

Turn hand-drawn sketches into vectors with Illustrator on the iPad
The video shows an artist making a pencil drawing than capturing an image of it with an iPad and Illustrator. The user then employs the Vectorize feature to change the image into a vector graphic that they can edit.
“This feature is especially powerful for creatives, who save time with the ability to go from paper sketches to designing on the iPad quicker, and gain the freedom to create anywhere with the mobility of the iPad and Apple Pencil,” noted Adobe.
The developer did not say when Vectorize will debut in Illustrator on the iPad. But the Adobe Max conference kicks off Tuesday, October 26, so that’s a possibility.
Vectorize is built on Adobe Sensei machine learning technology, and it’ll debut as a technology preview. “Its performance will improve with time,” says the developer, so iPad artists might want to rein in their expectations for the earliest versions.
A big improvement to Illustrator isn‘t the only thing creatives have to look forward to at Adobe Max — Photoshop on the iPad could gain the ability to work with images in a variety of raw formats at the conference too.
