It appears we know just about for sure the date of Apple’s upcoming press event, and it’s probably not what you expected. Apparently, the Apple event to unveil the 4-inch iPhone SE and new iPad will happen on Monday, March 21. The rumor floated around a bit Friday morning, but now we have a much more confident report coming from BuzzFeed.

“Sources in position to know tell BuzzFeed News Apple has settled on March 21st as the day it will show off a handful of new products…” BuzzFeed wrote. Jim Dalrymple of The Loop confirmed the date according to his own sources.

Up until now it was a pretty commonly held belief that Apple would actually hold the event on March 15. That rumor was probably credible at some point since there was way too much smoke for there to not be a fire, but perhaps Apple made a last minute decision to push the date back by just under a week. Interestingly, March 21 is one day before Apple is set to exchange arguments with the FBI in court over its beef about loosening the security of iOS as per the FBI’s request.

The upcoming Apple event on March 21 should see the debut of the smaller 4-inch iPhone SE, a new 9.7-inch iPad (which recent rumors suggest might be labeled as an iPad Pro) and some small upgrades to the Apple Watch and/or Watch bands. Stay tuned.
